MRI Results. 3/28/2018

Dad's last MRI showed NO signs of tumor. He is STILL considered to be in remission after 4.5 years fighting this cancer!

Go Gray In May. Brain Cancer Awareness.

May starts brain cancer awareness month, which is something that is so incredibly near and dear to my heart. As I've watched Dad's battle these last 19 months, I can't help but be so incredibly excited about the progress being made with treatment options, yet at the same time discouraged with the standard treatment options available to Dad.  I've taken it upon myself to educate others on brain cancer, educate others on how deadly of a disease this really is, and educate others on the lack of funding provided to research brain cancer treatment.  For the specific type of brain cancer Dad was diagnosed with 19 months ago (Glioblastoma Multiforme), the average life span is 14 months with the standard treatment (Surgery, Radiation, Chemotherapy). And statistically, 25% of people diagnosed with the disease live past 2 years.  Those statistics leave me with such mixed emotions. Another Round of Chemo Done! Update 5/28/2014

"Yeah, every time I think about when he had the seizure my mind goes back to (the) fair only 2 weeks before...We were all hanging out talking and you would never ever have known what was going on. He has come a long way from where he started. He is an impressive man, that is for sure."  There are many times where I feel like writing, expressing my thoughts, feelings and emotions, but there are many times where I can't seem to find any words to put down on paper. Those moments where the words aren't there, those moments where I'm feeling truly lost in this journey, I somehow seem to find inspiration to continue on, inspiration to write.  Many things inspire me to write- my daily devotional, quotes I find from other cancer fighters and caregivers, and encouraging words from friends and family. Sunday Is Coming: Dad Update 4/23/2014

Sunday's sermon at church was absolutely perfect for my family, the title: 'Sunday Is Coming'. Our Pastor explained how horrible of a day Good Friday was for Jesus, and how many of us experience our own personal 'Good Fridays' in life. But just as Jesus experienced his Good Friday, he also experience Easter Sunday- the day of Resurrection, a day of celebration.  The same God that gives us our own 'Good Fridays', is the same God that gives us our 'Easter Sundays'- Sunday is always coming.  Yesterday, Sunday came for our family. Dad's MRI noted no additional tumor growth, and the area of concern showed less contrast- all good news! The MRI also showed a slight bleed, but after reviewing the MRI with Dad's Neurosurgeon, Dad's Oncologist wasn't too concerned with the bleed. We are lucky to have two doctors who work so well together, and two doctors who are extremely cautious, so Dad will be having a CAT scan in 2 weeks to monitor the blee...
